मैं वाक़िफ़ हूँ तुम्हारे ग़म से मगर, वह मुशाबा^१ नहीं मेरे रंज से,

न मुझे इल्म^२ तुम्हारी कोफ़्त^३ का, मेरे जख़्म से अनजान तुम भी,

हर लहू-ए-चाक-ए-जिगर^४ बेख़बर रहता है दर्द-ए-ग़ैर से,

हर इश्क़^५ जुदा होता है, हर चोट का दर्द भी,

मेरी बेचारगी के बिखरे हुए क़त्रों^१ के जाम,

जाने क्या सूरत होगी उन अश्क-ओ-ग़म^४ की.
